How To Clear Out Your Wardrobe

Identifying what to do with the items within your wardrobe is only half the battle – setting an action plan to make sure you have completed the job is a whole other story.

3 Of The Best | Stella & Dot

I have been aware of Stella & Dot for a couple of years, but last week at an event I attended I finally got to have a really good look at a large selection of the range. And I was really impressed!

If you haven't heard of them, it's because it's not available in stores, but through direct selling by S&D Stylists at events, in a similar way to Avon.

Jewellery is something that many of my personal styling and image consulting clients struggle with, and finding simple, wearable and well made pieces can be a challenge.

I am pretty picky about jewellery, but there were plenty of items I would have loved to buy there and then! They have some amazing statement pieces, 3 of which are below, but equally lovely are the small charm necklaces.

Prices are from around £40 upwards for a necklace.

These are my 3 favourite Statement Necklaces from their AW13 collection, which you can buy from finding a representative on their website, or contacting them and holding an event for you and your friends.

But first some tips.

  • When choosing a necklace make sure you have a particular outfit or top in mind that it will work with, and preferably try it on together.
  • Be clear of your personal style and choose jewellery that reflects it. Your jewellery should support and add to the outfit you're wearing, not conflict or be added 'just because'. It needs to relate somehow - say by colour, or in its style otherwise your overall look will be confused rather than 'put together'.

Interview with me about starting out

Last week I was interviewed by career coach Marianne Canwell for her blog Free Range Humans. She was interested in hearing how I started Babet Style Consultancy and became a Personal Stylist and Image Consultant. And I really enjoyed it! It was actually an interesting experience for me to talk about my journey, and I rarely give much thought to where I was before, so it was good to remember how it all began and how far i've come!

And I apologise for the lack of blog posts and newsletter this month. Aside from getting marooned in Guernsey with one of my clients - thanks again for looking after me so well Lesley! - I am currently interviewing for an assistant, working with clients as the new season has meant a crazy diary, and so I have fallen behind with everything. I am catching now though, up so you will be hearing from me more soon!

In the meantime, take a look at the video and read more on on Free Range Humans and remember that if you dream of escaping the daily grind and starting your own thing - you can!
