Whilst a ‘new you’ is a very fluid concept, and annual reinvention is not necessary to move forward in life, I thought it would be a good time to talk about the first step in my book Look Like The Leader You Are. Reflect.
I have learnt over the years that this step is an important ‘pause’ that helps to understand your current situation and what is needed get to where you want to be.
All of the steps in my book Look Like The Leader You Are hold their own significance and importance, but the often missed, but essential, first step in any ‘new image’ process is to REFLECT.
The longest journeys begin with the smallest step and that couldn’t be truer when it comes to overhauling your image. How you present yourself is a never ending project of discovery, planning and maintenance but you might be surprised it starts nowhere near your wardrobe at all.
Overhauling your image is a mammoth task and one that needs your full attention. The only way to approach such a project is by quite literally starting from the inside out. This process starts with YOU.
Working with a personal stylist may seem excessive initially, but when you put it in to perspective, it is actually a very shrewd investment - in your career, your future, in YOU.
Helping women to look and feel good is not about ‘style over substance’. What you wear affects how you feel, how you perform, how you behave, and how other people perceive you, which is why clothes are such an important weapon in your arsenal for career success.
While the overall relaxation of dress codes have given women the opportunity to show more of their personality in what they wear, it is also a minefield and an extra job. What to wear has become another thing to add to the ever-growing list of pressures on working women, a pressure that only increases the higher they climb.
My book launch was so much fun! It was a great way to celebrate with clients, business associates, and friends. Book sales profits of £618.29 were donated to Smartworks Charity.
