The first step in our personal styling work with a new client is that of reflection - really looking at where they are, where they want to go and what might be preventing that from happening. It is crucial we get clarity about what needs to be done to help align their image with their career goals.

In step one of my book, Look Like The Leader You Are, which is really a do-it-yourself business style manual, I therefore ask you to take stock of what you really look like – not what you used to or want to look like – but who you are, here and now standing in front of the mirror.

But even before this it is also essential that you take 5 minutes to consider some other questions.

  • What is your Why?

  • What are your ultimate career goals and why are they important to you?

  • What are you fed up with and what has stopped you from tackling your image up until now?

  • If you had a magic wand, what would your wardrobe look like right now?

You then begin exploring what you are drawn to aesthetically in terms of clothing styles, shapes, lines and colour pallets, to gain insight into your own personal style preferences.

There are many activities and exercises in my book to help guide you through the process and break down this somewhat daunting task into manageable steps.

If you decide to take the plunge, buy the book, and have a go, I’d love to hear how you get on so please do get in touch and let me know!
