For this weeks Friday Finds on IGTV I went to St Christopher’s Place in London, to see what I could find in Whistles.
It is a brand I have bought a lot from over the years, both for myself and with my personal styling clients, although not so much recently. I have recently noted that their presence is dwindling, as like so many high street brands they’ve been facing problems.
I hate to say, but unfortunately, I was disheartened during this visit. Where Whistles was once seen as quite an up to date, quality brand, sadly it seems the quality has gone downhill. I found on several instances I liked an item at a distance, but on closer inspection found the fabric to be cheap.
Having said that, there were a few pieces I liked, and I did spot a bit of suiting that looked promising. As I always say with these brands, it’s always worth checking them out if you’re passing by - or casting your eye over their online offering.
Stylist Secret: Where possible, always opt to shop in-store. Not only is this better for the environment (to reduce the resources involved in the delivery and returns etc), it will also allow you to really feel the fabric and avoid the disappointment I found above! That’s if you can bare the nightclub vibe this particular store had…
